Women's Basketball Welcomes SMU For Alumni Night

Tigers seek fifth-straight home victory and to even season series with SMU
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball returns home Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. contest against SMU. This is the second of two meetings against the Mustangs and Memphis looks to extend its home winning streak to five as well as even up the season series with SMU.

Cheyenne Creighton registered her seventh double-double of the season and sixth 20+-point performance on the road at Cincinnati last weekend. She continues to lead the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per contest. She also is one of just four players in The American to rank in the top 10 in points and rebounds in the conference.
Creighton was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time this season on Monday after averaging 20.0 points per game this past week. Against ECU, she and senior guard Taylor Williams had a team-high 19 points each.
The Tigers have won five out of the last seven games including four-straight at home as we come down the final stretch of the regular season. The three remaining games on the schedule are at home against SMU and Tulane and on the road at No. 1 UConn. Memphis is currently sitting in seventh place in The American standings a game ahead of SMU.
Memphis is coached by Melissa McFerrin who is in her ninth season at the helm.

With an overall record of 14-12 and conference mark of 5-8, the Mustangs come into Wednesday's game a game behind Memphis in the American Athletic Conference standings. With that, SMU is in sole possession of eighth place. The Mustangs most recently defeated Tulsa at home by a score of 62-41, the team they are one place ahead of in the standings.
Alicia Froling continues to lead the Mustangs in scoring and rebounding this season. Currently, she is averaging a double-double with 14.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. McKenzie Adams is also averaging in double-figures with 11.9 points per game.
Travis Mays is the head coach of the Mustangs and he is in his first season at the helm. His previous stop was as an associate head coach with the University of Texas, his alma mater. SMU was picked to finish fifth in the preseason coaches' poll.
