Volleyball Hosts Temple, Connecticut This Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The calendar turns to November this weekend, and the month has been pretty good to the University of Memphis volleyball program the past three seasons.

The Tigers have a combined 13-11 record in the last three campaigns in November, and have played .500 or better volleyball each November from 2014-16.

Memphis starts its stretch run with its final home American Athletic Conference weekend against Temple and Connecticut. The Tigers' regular-season finale is a Wednesday, Nov. 22 match versus Wichita State.

Tigers Tidbits

For the fifth year in a row, Memphis has a player with 100 or more total blocks. Sophomore Brianna Kadiku went over 100 blocks for a season in the Oct. 29 match at UCF. Kadiku has been a blocking machine of late, averaging over seven total blocks in each of the last three matches.
After missing five matches due to an illness, freshman Hannah Flowers returned to action last weekend. She totaled 10 kills and seven blocks in the two matches vs. UCF and USF.
Memphis and Temple are meeting for the 10^th time, and all 10 encounters – including this Friday – have come as American Athletic Conference foes. As for Connecticut, Sunday's match is Memphis' 11^th time it has faced the Huskies. Nine of the previous 10 match-ups were as league opponents. The Tigers and Huskies also had one non-conference match as part of the 1991 Connecticut Challenge in Storrs.
The Tigers have one of the youngest squads in the conference and nation with 10 Tigers newcomers (7 freshman/2 transfers/1 redshirt freshman). To put how young Memphis is, consider that the Tigers' two opponents this weekend, Temple and Connecticut, have a combined seven newcomers on their rosters (Huskies, 4 freshmen; Owls, 3 freshmen).
This week, four Tigers rank in the top-10 in four statistical categories in The American, and they are: Brianna Kadiku in blocks (5^th), Faith Myers in assists (9^th), Alyssa Kronberg in digs (8^th) and Regan Comperry in service aces (10^th).
