Lars van Meijel Helps Lead Team Europe to First Day Lead at Palmer Cup

Team Europe Leads Team USA 6-4 after first day of competition
FORMBY, England - Behind the play of the University of Memphis' Lars van Meijel, Team Europe holds a 6-4 lead after the first of three days of the 2016 Arnold Palmer Cup.
The opening day included a Foursome Match (alternate shot), and a Four-Ball Match (Better Ball), both played in pairs and played in a match-style competition. Day two for van Meijel begins at 10 a.m. local time (2 a.m. CT), as he faces off against Rico Hoey of the University of Southern California in an individual match-play.
The opening section of the day, in which Team Europe dominated thoroughly with a 4-1 team win, saw van Meijel and Stuart Grehan take a 2&1 win over Derek Bard and Michael Johnson.
In the afternoon session, van Meijel and Grehan fell behind early, and was never able to recover, falling 4&2, as the United States closed the team gap to two points at 6-4 in the round.
