Women’s Golf Drops to Eighth at 2016 Rebel Intercollegiate Thru Two Rounds

MEMPHIS – The Memphis women's golf team dropped to eighth following the second round of the 2016 Rebel Intercollegiate, Saturday. Memphis was tied for sixth at the end of day one, but after Friday's 304, posted a 309 Saturday on the University of Mississippi Golf Course. The Tigers currently are four strokes off the current tie for sixth between Tulsa and Fresno State.

Two Tigers remain in the top 20 in the individual standings. Freshman Sydney Colwill followed Friday's even par round with a 78 (+6) on Saturday and is currently tied for 12^th at 150 through two rounds. Sophomore Emily Goldenstein shaved three strokes off her first round score, posting a 74 (+2) for 151, just a stroke behind Colwill's score. Goldenstein is currently tied for 15^th overall.

Julia Gerlach matched her Friday score with a second round 78 (+6) and is now tied at 46^th overall with freshman teammate Madison Thomas, who posted a Saturday 79 (+7). Leighann Cabush shaved a stroke off her Friday score with a Saturday 79 to move to 159 through 36 holes and a tie for 63^rd overall.
Memphis' two individual golfers are tied with one another for a tie for 73^rd overall. Andrea Cropper posted an 82 (+10) on Saturday while Megan Beane took seven strokes off her opening round card, posting a Saturday 77 to stand at 161 through two rounds.

Troy was the lone team to post a round under par on Saturday, scoring a 282 (-7) to move to +3 for the tournament (579) and leads East Tennessee State by two strokes. Harvard is third at 6-1, while host Ole Miss (602) and Murray State (603) round out the top five.

Murray State's Moa Folke is the individual tournament leader. Her 68 on Saturday was the low round of the day and moved her to a two-stroke lead over Troy's Gabi Oubre at 139.

The final round of the tournament will tee off Sunday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available at www.BirdieFire.com.
