Women’s Golf Tied for Sixth Following Opening Round at Rebel Intercollegiate

Sydney Colwill posts even par round on day one.

MEMPHIS -- Freshman Sydney Colwill is tied for sixth after an opening round, even-par 72 at the 2016 Rebel Intercollegiate being hosted Friday through Sunday at Ole Miss. The Tigers' team entry is also tied for sixth, posting an opening round 304 (+16) on the Ole Miss Golf Course. Troy University leads the field following a day one 297 (+9) and five different golfers are tied for first with opening round 71s (-1).

Fellow freshman Madison Thomas and sophomore Emily Goldenstein are currently tied for 31^st overall with opening round 77s (+5) while senior Julia Gerlach is tied for 43^rd with a day one 78 (+6). Junior Leighann Cabush rounded out Memphis' team scores with a day one 80 (+8), good for a tie for 61^st overall.

Memphis also had two individual golfers in the event. Redshirt junior Andrea Cropper starts day two in a tie for 53^rd following a Friday 79 (+7) while Megan Beane starts in a tie for 79^th after an opening round 84 (+12).

On Saturday, Memphis' team players will be teamed with golfers from Ole Miss and Murray State and will begin their tee-times off one at 9:36 a.m. Beane will tee off at 10:39 a.m. off of tee 10, playing with opponents from Yale and Murray State, while Cropper tees off at 10:39, making up a threesome with golfers from James Madison and Ole Miss.
