Tigers Track and Field Records 15 Top-Three Finishes Saturday

Carmichael, Parrish, Wesner lead way with first-place performances.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Carolina Carmichael, Derriana Parrish and Jordan Wesner all recorded first-place finishes in their respective events to highlight the University of Memphis track and field's second-day action at the 2016 Vanderbilt University Black & Gold Invitational Saturday.
The Tigers men's and women's 4x400 meter relay squads also had first-place performances.
In all, Memphis totaled 15 top-three finishes Saturday. In addition to their five first-place showings, the Tigers had six second-place finishes.
Carmichael, competing in her first outdoor meet after her 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships appearance Mar. 12, won the women's pole vault with a mark of 13-3.5 (4.05m). Parrish, a freshman, took first in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.97.
On the men's side, Wesner won the high jump with a mark of 7-0.5 (2.15m). Wesner, also a freshman, won silver with a second-place finish in the high jump at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 29.
The Tigers men's and women's 4x400 meter relay teams both placed first. The men's relay ran a 3:12.97, and the women a 3:46.21.
The Tigers posting second-place performances were: Davon DeMoss in the men's 100 meters (10.67), Luis Hanssler in the men's 110-meter hurdles (14.78), Jason Kimmet in the men's 400-meter hurdles (54.13), Luke Vaughn in the men's discus (178-9; 54.49m), Sydney Wright in the women's long jump (19-11; 6.07m) and Ashley Pryke in the women's javelin (148-2; 45.17m).
Memphis returns to action next week at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, Mar. 30-Apr. 2 and Joey Haines Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Apr. 1-2.
