Men's Soccer Travels To Florida Saturday

Two out of the last three matches are on the road, starting at USF this weekend
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team remains on the road this weekend with a trip to Florida to take on USF Saturday evening. Kick-off against the Bulls is slated for 6 p.m. at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

The Tigers are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 setback this week against Central Arkansas. Senior captain Raul Gonzalez scored twice against the Bears including his second converted penalty kick of the season.

Jackson Morse continues to lead the Tigers in scoring this season with four goals while Gonzalez now has three. The two have eight points each as Gonzalez also has two assists. Memphis has had 12 separate goal scorers this year, which ranks among the top in the nation. FGCU, High Point and Virginia Tech have had more than 12 on their respective teams score.

The Tigers are currently in sixth place with Temple in the American Athletic Conference with four points. Memphis owns a 7-6-1 overall record and 1-2-1 mark in conference play. At home last year, the Tigers earned a 0-0 draw against USF, who was ranked No. 12 at the time.

USF currently sits at the top of the American standings with a 3-1 conference record. Overall, the Bulls are 6-6-2. Most recently, the Bulls knocked off No. 24 ranked UConn on the road by a score of 1-0.

The Bulls are similar to Memphis in the fact that they have a large group of players who have scored this year. USF has had 10 separate scorers who are led by Lindo Mfeka, Melvin Becket, and Nazeem Bartman's three goals apiece. Mfeka leads the team with 11 points as he has also tallied five assists this year.

Spasoje Stefanovic, a senior goalkeeper from Serbia, has seen the majority of the time in goal for USF. With over 1000 minutes logged, Stefanovic has recorded 39 saves and owns a .709 save percentage.
