Complete ITA Fall Doubles Rankings
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's tennis team has representation in the doubles rankings in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason poll that were released this week.
Junior Anki Wind and sophomore Hanna Sohn, a transfer from the University of Arizona, will start the 2015-16 season as the No. 44 ranked doubles team in the country. The Memphis tandem is one of two American Athletic Conference schools to earn a preseason ranking. Tulsa also had a team ranked.
"It's exciting to see a Memphis team in the preseason rankings, but it's just a starting point and there is a lot of tennis to be played this year," Head Coach Hayden Perez said. "I believe this is a reflection of our doubles success last year and we will work hard to continue that success. I am happy for Anki and Hannah."
The women's tennis team will open its 2015 fall schedule next Friday through Sunday at the Little Rock Invitational. The team will then send three players to California to play in the Riviera All-American, Oct. 2-4th while the remainder of the team will venture to Purdue to play in the Purdue Invitational.
Memphis returns four players from last season, including senior Kathryn Hughes, juniors Marta Morga and Anki Wind and sophomore Tara McElroy.
