2013 Memphis Football Schedule
With the Tigers transitioning to the BIG EAST Conference, the University of Memphis announced an ambitious 2013 football schedule on Wednesday which includes seven home dates as well as games against six bowl participants from this past season and seven teams which finished 2012 with winning records.
Memphis will play six of its first eight games in Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and will not venture out of state until playing at Houston on Oct. 12th.
The Tigers will open the 2013 season playing host to Duke on Sept. 7th. The Blue Devils advanced to the Belk Bowl and finished with a 6-7 record. The following week, the Tigers travel to Middle Tennessee to take on a Blue Raider team which finished last season with an 8-4 record. The early, nonconference schedule also includes a Sept. 21st home game against an Arkansas State team which went 8-4 and won the GoDaddy.com Bowl last year.
Memphis opens conference play at home against UCF on Oct. 5th and following the game at Houston, play three straight in the Liberty Bowl.
The mid-season home stand will include a Wednesday, Oct. 30th game against Cincinnati which will be televised on the ESPN network of channels.
Both UCF and Cincinnati are coming off 10-win seasons and won bowl games last year – the Beef ‘O’ Brady Bowl and the Belk Bowl, respectively.
The month of November will include road games at USF and Louisville. Louisville was 11-2 last year and won the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Following a Thanksgiving weekend home game against Temple, the Tigers will close out the 2013 regular season on the road at UConn on Dec. 7th.
