Pods for 2012 Conference USA Baseball Championship Announced

PEARL, Miss. - Conference USA announced the pods for the 2012 Conference USA Baseball Championship presented by Trustmark on Saturday and the Tigers will play top-seeded Rice, No. 4 seed Southern Miss and No. 8 seed Houston.
Memphis opens the tournament play against Southern Miss on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trustmark Park. The Golden Eagles swept the Tigers in mid-April, but the U of M has won 12-of-15 games since.
The Tigers play top-seeded Rice on Thursday at 7 p.m. in game two of pod play. The Owls took game one of the series in a 1-0 pitcher's duel and won the series with a 15-4 win in game two. Memphis salvaged a game in the series with a 6-2 win on Sunday, March 25.
Coming off a series sweep at Houston this weekend, the Tigers will meet the Cougars once again on Friday at 7 p.m. Memphis swept the series at Houston after having won just one game at Cougar Field entering the series.
Winners of 12-of-the-last-15 games, Memphis has improved from 17-23 following the series sweep at Southern Miss to 29-26 on the year. The Tigers finished the C-USA season with a 14-10 record, marking the highest winning percentage for the U of M in league play since joining the league in 1996.
