Tigers Back in Action Against Billikens, Salukis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After an 11-day break, Memphis women's tennis is gearing up again and ready to face Saint Louis University on Friday in Saint Louis, Mo., along with Southern Illinois on Saturday in Carbondale, Ill. Both matches are slated for 2 p.m. start times.
In their most recent match, the Tigers (11-3) swept No. 67 Kansas State, 7-0. SLU (8-7) fell to SIU, 4-3, in their last outing on March 24, but the Salukis (10-2, 1-0 MVC) also faced Evansville on March 28, winning in a solid 6-1 decision.
Memphis has a 16-3 lead in the all-time series with SLU, including a 6-1 win over the Billikens in the team's meeting last year. The U of M holds a much narrower, 8-7 edge in the series with SIU. The Tigers and Salukis last saw each other in 2008, with SIU winning 4-3.
In the Rankings
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association's most recent polls, released Tuesday, have the Tigers ranked 55th in team standings. The Blue and Gray are back up to having four netters ranked in singles and one pairing in doubles.
