Roberts Named to Australian U19 National Team

University of Memphis softball pitcher/first baseman Ellen Roberts was named to the Australian U19 Aussie Pride national team on Tuesday for the fourth-straight year.
The Aussie Pride will play in the ISF IX U19 Women's World Championship in Cape Town, South Africa from December 6-17, 2011. The team is ranked third in the world and placed second in the Southern Cross Challenge in 2010. The Australian women's team also won the bronze medal in the ISF Junior Women's World Championships in 1995, 2003 and 2007.
A native of Westleigh, New South Wales, Australia, Roberts has appeared in five games in the circle for Memphis in 2011. She is 3-0 with a 3.36 ERA and has struck out 12 in 16.2 innings. Roberts earned her first career shutout against Alabama A&M and also combined for a shutout against Mississippi Valley State.
Roberts has appeared in nine total games for the Tigers and has 11 at bats with two RBI and a double.
Memphis (35-12) received the program's first ever NCAA Championship invite and will play Chattanooga (41-12) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT to open the Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tigers will then face No. 2 overall seed Alabama or Jackson State on Saturday in the double elimination tournament.
