• The loss was Memphis' worst since a 27-point defeat at the hands of UAB, 102-75, on Jan. 16, 2000.
• It was Memphis' first loss in El Paso since Dec. 18, 1971.
• Freshman Will Barton led the Tigers with 10 points, the lowest output for a Memphis leading scorer this season. It was also Barton's 19th double figure scoring game of the season.
• Barton (seven) and freshman Joe Jackson (six) each either set or tied career highs in turnovers.
• Familiar Faces: Memphis native Randy Culpepper (Sheffield HS) led all scorers with 20 points. Hamilton High graduate Jeremy Williams chipped in 14 points with a career-high tying three three-pointers.
• The Tigers set season-lows in points (47), field-goal percentage (17-for-51, 33.3 percent), three-pointers made (one) and three-point field goal percentage (1-for-18, 5.6 percent) and tied season-lows in field goals made (17) and assists (eight).
• The Tigers had just eight assists to 22 turnovers, the worst team assist-to-turnover ratio this season.
• Senior Will Coleman scored his season's 200th point.
• Freshman Tarik Black made his 100th career field goal in a Tiger uniform.
• Three Tigers (Black, W. Barton and Jackson) shot a combined 11-for-21 (52.4 percent) from the field; the other seven Tigers who played shot a combined 6-for-30 (20.0 percent).
• Texas Heart Break: Memphis has now lost three times in the state of Texas this season: today, 64-58 at SMU (Jan. 12) and 67-52 at Rice (Feb. 19). It's the first time Memphis has lost three times in a state other than Tennessee in the same season since losing four times in the state of New York during the 2004-05 season: to Syracuse (77-62) in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, to Pittsburgh (77-51) and Ole Miss (65-53) in the Jimmy V Classic and to St. Joseph's (70-58) in the NIT.
• Memphis has now lost five Conference USA games, the most since going 9-7 during the 2004-05 season.
