MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) have voted Mark Sherrod and Liam Collins to the All-Midwest Region First Team and J.J. Greer to the Second Team.
Sherrod, a semifinalist for the 2011 Hermann Trophy, set the school record for goals scored in a season with 19 and tied the record for points in a season with 42. He was also named Conference-USA Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team.
Collins joined Sherrod on the All-Conference First Team. He recorded 11 assists on the season, the third most in a single-season by a Tiger.
Greer, who spent his first full season at center defender, earned All-Conference Second Team honors. His defensive presence was instrumental in helping the Tigers post six-shutouts on the season, the most by a Memphis team since 2004.
Collins and Sherrod join former Memphis great Dayton O'Brien as the only Tigers to be named to the All-Midwest Region First Team. This marks the first time since 2008 that Memphis placed a player on the All-Region teams. Only the 2007 Memphis squad placed more players on NSCAA All-Midwest Region teams, when four Tigers earned Second and Third Team honors.
