Memphis Postgame Notes

 The Tigers move to 18-3 all-time against Southland Conference opponents, and 5-0 against Northwestern State, with their 94-79 victory. Memphis' last loss to an opponent from the Southland Conference was to Lamar, 82-68, in the 1968-69 season.

 The Tigers are now 3-0 to begin the 2010-11 season, the third time in the last four years Memphis has begun a campaign by reeling off three consecutive victories.

 Memphis scored 57 points in the first half, the Tigers biggest first-half scoring burst since scoring 58 first-half points against Lamar, Jan. 3, 2009.

 Junior swingman Wesley Witherspoon earned his first career double-double, 24 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. It marks the first double-double for a Tiger since Will Coleman's 15-point, 14-rebound performance against Ole Miss in last season's NIT second round loss.

 Witherspoon also went a career-best 13-of-14 from the line, pushing him to a career-best 23-of-25 from the charity stripe in his last two contests.

 After limited action in his first two contests, freshman Will Barton exploded for 22 points and eight rebounds, both career-high numbers, while also logging a career-high 31 minutes. He also drilled four three-pointers, tying him with Chris Crawford for the Tiger season high.

 Ball control: The Demons harassed the Tigers into a season-high 19 turnovers.

 Memphis outrebounded the Demons by a margin of 14 (42-28), the highest margin since outrebounding UCF by 14, Feb. 10, 2010. The Tigers' 42 rebounds, led by Witherspoon's 12, was its most in a single contest since grabbing 47 against Houston Baptist, Jan. 3, 2010, led by Will Coleman's seven.

 Memphis shot 82.9 percent (29-35) from the line as a team, its best free-throw percentage in a single game since shooting 83.3 percent (25-30) at Tulsa, Feb. 13, 2010.

 Junior Angel Garcia had nine points, including the 100th of his career, against the Demons.

 In the Tigers previous six games dating back to last season, they are giving up an average of 15.5 offensive rebounds per contest.
