• Freshman Joe Jackson set a career high with 17 points, the highest total for a Tiger freshman since Tyreke Evans' 33 points against Missouri in Memphis' 2008 West Regional Semifinal loss.
• A swarming defense has contributed to the Tigers revival: in their first two games of this season, Memphis has forced 46 turnovers, compared to forcing just 49 over the final five games of last season.
• For the second game in a row, junior Charles Carmouche had a career-high tying five steals.
• Memphis was outrebounded, 51-31, their largest deficit since Massachusetts outrebounded the Tigers 44-24 last season. It was also the largest deficit in a victory since Tulsa out-rebounded the 2009 squad, 43-25, in a 55-54 Memphis win on Jan. 13, 2009.
• The Hurricanes garnered only five assists on the night, the fewest by a Tiger opponent since SMU had five helpers, Jan. 30, 2010.
• Memphis shot just 18.2 percent (4-for-22) from beyond the arc, while Miami countered with a 15.8 percent (3-for-19 effort). The combined effort produced a percentage of 17.1 percent, the worst combined three-point shooting performances by Memphis and an opponent since the Tigers teamed up with Massachusetts to shoot a combined 16.3 percent (7-for-43 combined) from beyond the arc on Nov. 17, 2008.
• The Tigers three-point shooting was its worst effort as a team since a 1-for-13 (7.7 percent) night against Arkansas State, December 5, 2009.
