OFFENSIVE NOTES
· Senior Duke Calhoun logged an 80-yard reception for a touchdown with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter to notch his second reception of 80 or more yards in consecutive games. He hauled in an 85-yard reception for a TD last week against UT Martin. Calhoun's 80-yard reception ranks tied for 13th in all-time long receptions. Calhoun is now tied for fourth (with Bill Robertson, 1947-50) all-time with 16 TD receptions.
· This is only the third time in school history that Memphis has had two or more 80-yard passing plays in a season. The other two seasons were 1998 and 2003.
· With the 80-yard reception, Duke Calhoun extended his receiving streak to 41 games. He came into today's game ranked third nationally in active receiving streaks. Calhoun has caught a pass in each of his 41 career games played for the Tigers.
· Steven Joachim caught a 16-yard pass in the second quarter to mark his fourth straight game with a reception of 13 or more yards.
· With his 62 yards receiving today, Carlos Singleton became only the fourth Tiger in school history to amass 2,000 yards receiving. He came into the game with 1,970 yards, and continues to rank fourth all-time with 2,032 yards. Singleton achieved his 2,000th yard in his 41st career game, which ranks third all-time. He is behind Calhoun, who logged his 2,000th yard in his 35th game, and Damien Dodson, who amassed 2,000 yards in 39 games. Singleton also ranks fourth with 136 career receptions.
· With his 141 yards on five catches, Duke Calhoun extended his school record to nine career games over the century mark in receiving. He has also accomplished this in consecutive games after totaling 174 yards last week versus UT Martin. Calhoun's last series of consecutive games of 100 yards was in 2007 (three games in Nov. vs ECU, USM & UAB).
