Cross Country Improves at Commodore Classic

After disappointing results to open the cross country season, the University of Memphis men's and women's cross country teams improved at the Vanderbilt University Commodore Classic.
The women's team was led by freshman Brittany Duboise (21:11.63) and sophomore Jasmine Darden (21:11.90) who finished 55th and 56th overall, respectively. Freshman Louisa Lingley finished 59th overall with a time of 21:14.10. The Lady Tigers finished 11th overall in the team standings with an average finish of 21:48.25.
The men's team finished 13th overall with an average finish of 30:31.47. Junior distance runner Jacob Chapman once again led the Tigers and finished 15th overall with a time of 27:15.12 in the men's 8k. Jorgen Ekdahl finished 60th overall with a time of 28:46.17.
The cross country teams return to action on Saturday Sept. 26th as they will participate in the Rhodes Invitational at Plough Park in Memphis. The women's 5k will begin at 9:30 am with the men's 8k scheduled to start at 10:10 am.
