• Memphis is now 0-8 this season against top 25 opponents and is 0-12 all-time against a ranked team.
• Freshman Kimber Bossom gave up a three-run homer to Laurie Wagner in the first inning. The homer is the first off Bossom since March 5 against Central Arkansas. The RHP had gone 112.1 innings without allowing a dinger.
• The Tigers are now 5-15 this season when the opponent scores in the first inning and 7-24 when the opponent scores first. One of those wins for Memphis came earlier in the day when the U of M came from behind to beat UAB 8-6.
• Freshman Maddie McKinley made a fielding gem from shortstop in the second inning. Christa Raley hit a ground ball deep in the hole at short. McKinley fielded the ball and threw a strike to first to get Raley out by half a step.
• Right after making a great play at shortstop, freshman Maddie McKinley led off the top of the third with a solo shot over the center field fence. It is her fourth homer of the year and eighth run scored. The homer is only the ninth hit all season off Houston ace Angel Shamblin.
• McKinley's homer sets a new Memphis record for dingers in a season with 48. The Tigers have three on the day. The previous record of 47 was set last year in 61 games. The U of M hit the 48 in 55 games.
• Memphis pitched out of bases loaded jams in the third and fourth innings. Freshman Janelle Valle pitching in relief of starter Kimber Bossom got out of both jams, including a one-out bases loaded jam in the third.
