Memphis Concludes Final Day at Palisades Collegiate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of Memphis men's golf team concluded the final round of the Palisades Collegiate Classic in Charlotte, N.C., where they finished 11th after three rounds of competition. Sophomore golfer Brad Benjamin took home the crown, taking sole position of first place.
Memphis finished 11th, scoring a 17-over-par score of 881. The Tigers tallied 154 pars, 47 birdies and one eagle in the tournament. The team averaged a 3.22 (+13) on par three scoring, a 4.23 (+34) on par four scoring and a 4.92 (-5) on par five scoring.
Benjamin was the medalist for the tournament, finishing two strokes ahead. He shot a 9-under-par score of 207. The sophomore started out day two in second place and put on an outstanding performance in the final round to boost his way to first.
Benjamin led the Tigers in all categories, where he earned a spot on the leader board of several categories. He shot a 2.92 (-1) on par three scoring and a 3.87 (-4) on par four scoring, which put him in first in that category. He also shot 13 birdies and 37 pars.
Junior golfer Ian Rochester was the second lowest finisher for the Tigers, finishing 48th. The junior shot a 7-over-par score of 223. Freshman Hugo Lauzon was the third lowest finisher for the Tigers, finishing 59th. He shot a 10-over-par score of 226.
Brandon Bunn finished 73rd in the tournament, three strokes behind Lauzon. The freshman finished with a 13-over-par score of 229. Robbie Greenwell shot a 21-over-par score of 237, giving him a spot at 89th place.
Charlotte took home the tournament trophy, blowing out the competition, with a 15-under-par score of 849. Seven strokes behind the 49ers was Lamar, shooting an 8-under-par score of 856. Benjamin took the individual title. Not far behind were Dawie VanDerWalt of Lamar and Callum Macaulay of Mississippi.
The Tigers return to the course April 28-30, where they will compete in Texarkana, Ark. for the Conference USA Championships.
