Coach Tommy West Has Successful Surgery

MEMPHIS, TENN. - University of Memphis head football coach Tommy West underwent a heart procedure at Baptist Memorial Hospital East on Friday morning and is resting comfortably in ICU. The 51-year old West entered Baptist on Friday morning for previously scheduled tests and later underwent heart bypass surgery. It is anticipated that he could be released early next week to return home for recovery.
The West family has asked that all cards and well wishes be sent to the University of Memphis football office and that Tiger fans respect the coach's privacy during this recovery period.
