Tigers Release Football Schedule

MEMPHIS, TENN. - Two nationally-televised games and a six-game home schedule highlight the 2005 Tiger Football schedule as released by Conference USA officials today.
The Tigers open the season on Labor Day, Sept. 5, against the Ole Miss Rebels on a brand new Field Turf Pro Series surface at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The game, which will be carried by ESPN, is slated for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off. The Tigers will be off the following week, and will host Chattanooga for the second straight year, on Sept. 17.
Memphis will take to the road for their first league contest with Tulsa on Sept. 24, and will return home to host UTEP the following week, on Oct. 1. The U of M will then play back-to-back road games, traveling to UCF on Oct. 8 and to Houston on Oct. 15.
The Tigers then host three of its last five games, with East Carolina visiting the Liberty Bowl on Oct. 22; UAB joining Memphis for a Tuesday evening contest on ESPN on Nov. 1; and Marshall closing out the Tigers' regular-season schedule on Nov. 26. The Tigers will travel to Knoxville to take on the Vols on Nov. 12, and will play at Southern Miss on Nov. 19.
As part of the new alignment of Conference USA, there will be two divisions for the 12 member schools. Memphis joins ECU, Marshall, USM, UAB and UCF in the East Division, while Houston, Rice, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa and UTEP make up the West Division. Beginning this season, C-USA will host a championship game between the two division leaders. The division winner with the highest winning percentage will host the championship game.
Schedule note - the UAB game could be moved to Nov. 2, and the C-USA Championship game could be moved to Dec. 3 to accommodate television scheduling.
