MEMPHIS, TENN. - University of Memphis senior linebacker Tim Goodwell has accepted an invitation to play in the 2006 All-American Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The game, which showcases approximately 105 seniors from across the country in an East vs. West format, will be played at Sam Boyd Stadium on January 14, 2006. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. PT and the game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net. The game is attended by more than 200 NFL personnel, which is more than any game other than the Senior Bowl.
Goodwell has led the Tigers in tackles this season with 90, including 47 solo stops. He has recorded two sacks this season, and also picked off a pass against Chattanooga early in the season. Goodwell will look to lead the Tiger defense on Dec. 26 as Memphis takes on Akron in the Motor City Bowl in Detroit.
A native of Lithonia, Ga., Goodwell is the third Tiger to accept an invitation for a post-season game. He joins tailback DeAngelo Williams and kicker Stephen Gostkowski who recently announced their plans to compete in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
