Recap | Final Stats
* Cat safety Scott Vogel recovered his first fumble of the season early in the first quarter. It was the third of his career as he recovered two fumbles in 2003 against East Carolina and USF.
* Kicker Stephen Gostkowski booted his eighth field goal of the season when he connected from 47 yards out during the first quarter. It was his longest field goal of the season, to date, and his third longest of his career. The Madison, Miss., native later missed what would have been the longest FG of his career when his 51-yard attempt to close out the first half was short. In the third quarter, Gostkowski booted a 19-yard field goal. Gostkowski has hit 37 of 54 field goal attempts in his career, which ranks him fourth all-time in UM history.
* Tavares Gideon's 16-yard touchdown in the third quarter marked his fourth touchdown reception of the season, and his 12th career. Gideon scored again in the fourth quarter to give him his 13th career score, surpassing Damien Dodson and Russell Copeland for fourth all-time. The all-time record is 17 touchdowns held by Earnest Gray (1975-78). Gideon has now scored in 10 of his 16 games played as a Tiger.
* Stephen Gostkowski booted his 66th consecutive PAT in the third quarter following the TD pass from Wimprine to Gideon. Coming into tonight's game, Gostkowski ranked fourth nationally with 65 straight PATs. Robert Menchinger from Western Michigan held the No. 3 spot with 75 PATs.
* Cat safety O. C. Collins' interception in the third quarter marked his second of the season, and his sixth career pick. The junior also intercepted a pass against Arkansas State last weekend.
* With his 51-yard completion to Darron White in the second quarter, Danny Wimprine now has completed four passes this season over 50 yards in length, and now has 18 completions over 50 yards for his career.
* Memphis went for two in the fourth quarter to tie the score, 21-21, marking the first time since 2001 that Memphis had completed a pass for a two-point conversion. In tonight's game, Danny Wimprine connected with Tavares Gideon for the conversion. The last time that Memphis had gone for two was against TCU in 2002.
* For the first time in 17 games, Memphis has not gained more offensive yardage than its opponent. Coming into tonight's game, Memphis had amassed more yardage than its foes in 16 straight games. The last time that Memphis was held below its opponent was in the final game of the 2002 season when TCU amassed 403 yards and the Tigers totaled just 285 yards.
* Several streaks broken in UAB game --- Not only did Memphis snap their streak of 16 straight games of more yards than its opponent, but there were several other streaks snapped in the loss, including... Memphis snapped a five-game winning streak of road victories; For the first time in 14 games, junior tailback DeAngelo Williams did not rush for 100 or more yards (UAB held him to 92 yards).
* The four interceptions that Danny Wimprine threw tonight was the most picks the senior QB has thrown since his four interceptions against USF in 2003.
* Danny Wimprine's two passing TDs in tonight's game gives him 67 career TD passes, and now ties him for the national record for career TDs by ACTIVE quarterbacks with Hawaii's Timmy Chang. Chang came into the week with 67, and Hawaii was in an open week.
