Game Notes: * Tailback DeAngelo Williams surpassed current graduate assistant coach Gerard Arnold for second place in the career record books with his three-yard and seven-yard runs in the first quarter. With his 144 yards tonight, Williams remains in second place all-time with a total of 2,512 yards. Dave Casinelli holds the school record with 2,636 yards. Williams has totaled 100-plus yards in the last 13 straight games, and in 17 career games.
* Darron White's 46-yard reception in the first quarter moved him to second all-time in receptions with 117. He surpassed Russell Copeland who ended his career with 116 catches. Damien Dodson holds the career record with 147 receptions.
* Tavares Gideon's 12-yard touchdown marked his second touchdown reception of the season, and his 10th career. He has now scored in nine of his 15 games played as a Tiger. He scored again off a nine-yard pass from Danny Wimprine late in the fourth quarter.
* Fullback Robert Douglas' 36-yard reception during the second quarter ranked as his career long reception. His previous long was seven yards against Louisville in 2003.
* With his 41-yard field goal in the second quarter, junior kicker Stephen Gostkowski surpassed former kicker Rusty Bennett (1977-80) for fifth place in career field goals made. Bennett made 30 field goals during his career. Gostkowski now has 32, after booting a 30 yarder in the third quarter. Gostkowski was ranked 18th nationally in field goals prior to tonight's game.
* Stephen Gostkowski tallied seven points during the first half of tonight's game, giving him 25 points scored on a season and moving him into fourth place in career scoring with 185 points. Gostkowski passed former kicker Don Glosson (1983-85) for fourth place.
* Defensive back O.C. Collins' pass interception in the second quarter of tonight's game was the Tigers' first interception of the season. For Collins, a junior, it marked his fifth career interception.
* When kicker Stephen Gostkowski connected from 30 yards out, it marked his fourth field goal made of tonight's game. The four field goals made in a single game tied for the second highest single game total in school history. The Memphis record for field goals made in a game is five by Ryan White versus UAB in 1999.
* Cameron Essex's interception late in the third quarter was his second pick of his career. His last interception was against Houston in 2002.
* Fullback Robert Douglas tallied his first career touchdown reception in the fourth quarter off a 32-yard pass from Danny Wimprine. Douglas caught three passes tonight for a career high.
* Stephen Gostkowski's 17 points kicking tonight pushed him ahead of Ryan White for the second most points scored by a kicker in a game. White holds the record with 18 points scored against UAB in 1999.
* When kicker Stephen Gostkowski connected from 30 yards out, it marked his fourth field goal made of tonight's game. The four field goals made in a single game tied for the second highest single game total in school history. The Memphis record for field goals made in a game is five by Ryan White versus UAB in 1999.
* Senior cornerback Tristan Thomas left the game in the second quarter after a hard hit that knocked him out. He left the game on a spineboard, and reports from the athletic training staff at halftime showed he had sustained a concussion.
* Tim Goodwell had the game-saving play with 2:22 left in the game when he recovered a fumble and ran it into the endzone to give Memphis the 40-35 lead. Goodwell also batted the ball to cause the fumble. It was his second fumble recovery of the season and the third of his career. The last time the Tigers ran a fumble in for a touchdown was in 2002 versus Murray State. Marcus West scored that defensive touchdown.
* Scott Vogel's interception with under two minutes remaining in the game marked his sixth career pick.
* The Tigers intercepted three passes tonight, marking the first time since 2001 against Army that Memphis had picked off three passes in a single game.
* The 35-points scored by ASU was the most points that the Memphis defense had allowed since Mississippi State handed Memphis a 35-27 loss early in the 2003 season.
* Tailback DeAngelo Williams picked up his 20th rushing touchdown when he scored from 16 yards out with under a minute remaining in the game.
* Stephen Gostkowski entered tonight's game with 60 consecutive PATs made which ranked him fifth nationally. His five PATs made tonight gives him 65 straight, and would still rank him fifth.
* Memphis' 3-0 start marks the first time since 1973 that the Tigers have opened a season with three straight wins.
