Football Accepts Invitational to New Orleans Bowl

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The New Orleans Bowl has extended an invitation to the University of Memphis to play in its 2003 game on December 16 in the Superdome, and U of M athletic director R.C. Johnson has accepted the bid.
"It is with great pleasure and pride that I accept this invitation on behalf of the University and our football team," said Johnson. "Tommy West and his staff have done a magnificent job and this team has given its all throughout the season. We are very proud of our football program."
The Tigers finished the regular season with a record of 8-4, their best regular season finish since the 1973 campaign.
"I can't say enough about these players and my coaches," said West. "We set post season play as one of our goals for this year and we have now achieved that goal."
The 2003 New Orleans Bowl will be played on Tuesday, December 16 at 6 p.m. in the Superdome. Tickets will go on sale at the U of M immediately and will remain on sale through December 12th.
