Cross Country heads to Arkansas for Chile Pepper Invitational

MEMPHIS-The University of Memphis Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are ready to compete at the Chile Pepper Invitational on October 18, with the collegiate men's race beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by the collegiate women's race at 10:30 a.m. The 10K men's race and the 6K women's race will take place on the Razorback Cross Country Course.
A record-number forty schools will take to the trails for the 10K race. Joining Arkansas will be Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss. Other schools include Abilene Christian, Bacone, Baker, Belmont, Boise State, California-Davis, Centenary, Cloud County Community College, East Central Oklahoma, Eastern Oregon, Harding, Hastings, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, McMurry, Memphis, Missouri-Kansas City, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Rice, Samford, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, TCU, Texas-Arlington, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Pan-American, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UTEP, Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky.
The Tigers hope to build on last week's solid performance at the Saluki Invitational. The return of top runner Mate Nemeth is a big plus. Joining Nemeth will be Adam Didyk, the reigning C-USA Athlete of the Week, Kym Morgan, Szabi Karadi and Istvan Kerekjarto.
On the Women's side, the young kittens hope to grow a little more this weekend. Senior Ali Baker and Junior Nora Nemere are coming off their top per-formances of the year, while freshmen Kara Cassel, Daniele Riendeau, Becca McMahon and Mary Claire Dake look to continue to develop as runners.
