West Releases Two Assistants Coaches

Defensive coordinator Rick Whitt, who has been a member of the Tiger football staff for the past three seasons, and receiver coach Charlie Coe, who has been with the U of M since 1997, have been relieved of their coaching duties at The University of Memphis.

"I am in the process of evaluating our football program," said head coach Tommy West. "At this time I feel that these changes are necessary.

" I appreciate the contributions that these coaches made and wish them well. These are difficult decisions that need to be made in order to continue the process of building this program.

"I will begin a replacement search immediately," West concluded.
