LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Steve Logan matched a career high with 32 points and Cincinnati advanced to the Conference USA tournament championship for the first time since 1998 with an 89-79 win over Memphis Friday night at Freedom Hall.
The top-seeded Bearcats (23-8) will play third-seeded Charlotte (20-10) in Saturday's final. The 49ers beat second-seeded Southern Mississippi 75-63 in Friday's other semifinal.
Kenny Satterfield added 24 points and five assists for the Bearcats, who have won nine of their last 10. Logan, the league's player of the year, also had four assists and three steals.
Kelly Wise had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Scooter McFadgon added 17 points to lead fourth-seeded Memphis (17-14), which was making its first appearance in the tournament semifinals.
Shannon Forman capped a 12-2 Memphis run and gave the Tigers their only lead of the first half at 12-11 with a 3-pointer at the 14:41 mark.
McFadgon's 3-pointer with 1:15 left drew Memphis to 34-33, but a jumper from the free-throw line by Antwan Jones and a driving layup by Logan pushed the lead back to five. McFadgon scored again in the half's closing seconds to cut Cincinnati's lead to three.
The Bearcats still led by three when Shyrone Chatman's 3-pointer from the wing forged a 59-59 tie with 9:40 remaining. Logan answered with his fourth 3-pointer of the game 20 seconds later.
Kenny Satterfield was whistled for a double dribble with 5:33 to go, prompting a wild, screaming outburst from Cincinnati coach Bob Huggins that drew a technical foul.
McFadgon made the ensuing free throw and sank a 3-pointer with 5:12 left to give Memphis a 70-67 lead. He added a free throw with 4:28 to go for a four-point lead.
The Bearcats responded with a 10-0 run that Satterfield finished with a 3-pointer with 1:45 left.
A 3-pointer by Chatman with 40.2 seconds left cut the lead to 83-79. But Leonard Stokes dunked after a defensive miscue to restore the six-point lead, and the Bearcats sealed the game from the free-throw line from there.
