Men's Cross Country Faces Tough Test At Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. - For the second time in three weeks, the Memphis men's cross country team faces a strong national field as they prepare for Saturday's running of the Chili Pepper Invitational at Fayetteville, Ark. The event, host by Arkansas, features teams from 25 schools. Two top ten teams are in the field - Arkansas, which is ranked third and Portland which is ranked sixth nationally.
Other teams participating in addition to Memphis are Abilene Christian, Alabama-Huntsville, Centenary, Central Fla., Colorado Christian, Evangel, Hastings, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, LSU, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, TCU, Tulsa, Cal-Davis, Missouri-Kansas City, UTEP and Wichita State.
The Tigers participated two weeks ago at the Meet of Champions in New Rochelle, N.Y., and that field included several nationally-ranked teams as well.
Last week, the Tigers finished ninth at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. Balazs Laszlo and Ricky McLain posted top 20 finishes in that event finishing 16th and 20th respectively. This is the Tigers' last scheduled meet before the C-USA Championships at Greenville, N.C., on October 27.
