Lady Tiger Soccer Drops Season Opener at Sacramento State, 6-2

Sacramento, Calif. - The University of Memphis Women's soccer team opened their 2000 season against Sacramento State Friday evening with a 6-2 loss to the Hornets in Sacramento.
The Lady Tigers started three freshmen, including goalie Kari Rawe, in their season opener, and were surprised early. The Hornets had two players score two goals each, and led at the half by a score of 3-0. The first score came off of a penalty kick by Brittany Hiljkema in the 17th minute.
Two Lady Tigers scored late in the game, the first was freshman Jennifer Goff, an Oak Ridge, Tennessee, native who plays forward. Then, late in the game, senior Candice Spiniolas scored to draw the Tigers to within 4. The Lady Tigers wrap up their West Coast trip with a Sunday evening game at San Francisco on August 27. Game time is 7:00 local time.
