Bringing with him over 25 years of video production and broadcast experience, Brad Pope oversees the department of creative video and the ESPN+ broadcasting efforts. Brad is currently in his second stint with the Tigers, returning to Memphis in the fall of 2019 as the director of digital media following a five-year run at Horizon League member Northern Kentucky University.
At NKU, Brad served as the director of communications where his primary role was building an in-house video department which included shooting, editing and producing features, hype videos and highlight packages that were posted to the department’s website and social media platforms. Additionally, he coordinated the department’s efforts with NKU Media Services in the live broadcast of home events on ESPN+ and regional sports networks.
During this time, Brad also severed in leadership positions with the athletic department and Horizon League, including being appointed as the department's Horizon League Messaging Cabinet representative and volunteering to take on the role of Horizon League video coordinator peer group chairman. On the Messaging Cabinet, Brad worked with other member school representatives in vetting and making recommendations concerning television, digital/social and video streaming mattes and overseeing Horizon League messaging and branding initiatives. As the Horizon League video coordinator peer group chairman, he assisted the League communications staff in developing best practices and policy, at times lead group discussions with fellow League video coordinators, and represented fellow League coordinators in discussions with the League communication staff and executive leadership.
Brad first entered the college athletics arena in 2011, working in the Memphis Athletics Communications Department serving as sport media contact for multiple programs. He was also a part of the department’s early multimedia efforts including video features, game highlight packages and post-game interviews used on the department’s website and various social media platforms.
Before entering college athletics, Brad worked in local television markets including Memphis, Meridian, Miss. and Biloxi, Miss. in either full-time or freelance roles. At WMDN in Meridian, Brad worked as a sports reporter, anchor and producer. He began his broadcast career in 2000, breaking into the business as a marketing/promotions producer for WLOX in Biloxi which eventually led to an on-air role as a sports reporter.
Brad holds a B.S. in Mass Media Communications from Mississippi College, where he was also a four-year letter winner on the football team receiving American Southwest Conference All-Conference and Academic All-Conference accolades as senior offensive lineman in 1999. In 2011, Brad earned his M.S. in Health and Sports Science with a concentration in sports and leisure management from the University of Memphis.
He is married to Megan Pope and have one son together named Hank.
