Emron Gibbs

Emron Gibbs joined the Memphis Track & Field program as an Assistant Coach in August 2021 before moving into his current role as assistant coach and director of operations in August 2022.Â
In his role, Gibbs assists in the daily operations of the program, including but not limited to travel logistics, coaching throwing events, managing equipment, program planning and other duties as assigned by the head coach.Â
Prior to joining the staff at a full-time capacity, Gibbs was a volunteer coach at Memphis from 2019-21, assisting in coaching throwers, creating training physical and mental preparation plans for the competition season and assisting with travel logistics.Â
Before he joined the Tigers, he was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he worked primarily with throwers and assisted in the planning and programming of training sessions for student-athletes.Â
As a coach, Gibbs has helped his teams earn two conference championships in javelin and has had 14 NCAA East Regional qualifiers and two NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers.Â
Gibbs was a two-time NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier and garnered All-American honors for a fourth-place finish in 2016, earning an All-American honorable mention in 2017 at Southern Mississippi. He also holds multiple school records.Â
Gibbs holds a master's degree in sport management from the University of Southern Mississippi.Â
