CAREER
A fan favorite because of his work ethic, Gunn was dubbed Mr. Hustle by his teammates.
An ex-Melrose High standout, Gunn averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds as a freshman. He scored a career-high 25 points against Buffalo State. His contributions helped the Tigers finish 20-7 and earn a spot in the National Invitation Tournament.
He averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds as a sophomore. It was during his sophomore season that he had, perhaps, his best outing as a Tiger. Gunn had 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks against Louisville in the Metro Tournament.
At Melrose High, he played alongside future Tigers teammates Alvin Wright and James Bradley and helped lead the Wildcats to a 35-0 record and a state championship.
Gunn died unexpectedly during his junior season due to complications from a rare disease called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.
