Career Review
Martin put together one of the more remarkable careers in school history. After averaging only 2.7 points as a freshman, he ended his career with 1,625 points to rank 10th all time. During his senior season, he became the first player to score 40 or more points in two games, including scoring 41 ā all in the second half -- at USF.
2018-19 Season (Senior)
Led the team in points (708), field goals (220), free throws made (202), assists (157), steals (79) and minutes (1,236). He ranked second in 3-pointers made (66) and third in blocks (23). . . . He earned unanimous selection to the American Athletic Conference first team, one of three players to be chosen on every coach's ballot. . . . He finished his career with 1,625 points to rank 10thĀ all-time in school history. . . . His 19.7 scoring average led the American Athletic Conference, making him the first Memphis player to lead the league in scoring since 2012. . . . He had two games with 40 or more points, including a career-high 43 points Feb. 20 against Tulane. He scored 41 points Feb. 2 at USF with all of the points coming in the second half. He is the only player in school history with two 40-point games. . . . Averaged 30.6 points in February (8 games). . . . Included in the February run was a 37-point effort at Wichita State in an 88-85 Tigers victory. He was 14-of-14 from the free throw line against the Shockers. . . . 2017-18 Season (Junior)
Led the team in points (510), field goals (157), 3-point field goals (51), assists (103) and steals (61) during the season, despite missing seven games due to injury.Ā . . . His 18.9 average ranked second in the American Athletic Conference. . . . Scored career-high 33 points Feb. 3 at East Carolina, a total that boosted his career average to double digits (10.2) for the first time. . . . Recorded the second double-double of his career Jan. 16 in a 73-49 win over UConn. He finished with 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in the game. . . Earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors Jan. 15 after scoring 57 points and making 19 of 21 free throws in wins over Tulane and Temple. . . .Ā Ā Missed the team's Feb. 14 win at SMU with a sore right hip, but returned to lead the Tigers to a win at Tulane by finishing with 22 points, four steals and four assists. . . . Suffered a broken left foot Feb. 22 during the Tigers' 91-85 upset win over No. 23 Houston and missed the remainder of the season. . . . Averaged 2.3 steals per game to become first Tiger since Tyreke Evans in 2008-09 to average more than two steals per game. . . . Played and started in all 32 games during the season, averaging 34.8 minutes per game ...
