Landan Salem was named the Director of Recruiting Operations for the Memphis football team by head coach Ryan Silverfield in January of 2020. In a COVID adjusted recruiting class, Salem helped lead the Tigers to the highest ranked recruiting class in school history according to 247 Sports (47th overall) and the 2nd ranked class in the American Athletic Conference.
Salem spent the 2018 & 2019 seasons at Syracuse University, where he served as the Director of Player Personnel, working closely with the Orange's recruiting department. During that 2018 season, Syracuse finished the season 10-3 reaching the double-digit win mark for the first time since 2001. In 2018, Salem was named of 247 Sports “30 under 30” which showcases college football's rising stars in the profession.
Before his time in the ACC with Syracuse, Salem was at Florida Atlantic University. There, he was the program's Director of Player Personnel and Pro Liaison in 2017. FAU went 11-3 that season, winning their first C-USA championship and a Boca Raton Bowl title.
In the 2015 & 2016 seasons, Salem was the Director of Video Scouting and Summer Camp Director at the University of Pittsburgh. While spearheading the evaluations, the Panthers signed back-to-back top 40 recruiting classes for the first time since 2006-07. 6 of those recruits in those two classes were drafted in the 2021 NFL draft which led the ACC conference.
During the 2014 season, Salem was a recruiting assistant at Michigan State University helping advance scout both underclassmen recruits and opponent special teams.
A 2014 graduate of the University of Illinois, Salem served college internships with the operations department with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 and with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League in 2011.
Salem comes from a football family. His father, Tim, is the tight ends coach at Pitt. His uncle, Brad, is the current tight ends coach at Memphis. His grandfather, Joe, was head coach at South Dakota (1966-74), Northern Arizona (1975-78) and Minnesota (1979-83).
Salem is married to the former Katie Gerzabek, who is the head field hockey coach at local DIII Rhodes College.
