MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team (2-4) opened the Carrie Yerty Classic with a 3-0 sweep of Alcorn State (0-7) on Thursday morning inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Memphis opened the first set with a 5-0 run sparked by kills from Caitlyn Little and Lily Hamilton before Alcorn State responded with a kill from Rylan Jones. The Tigers continued to push, building a 14-3 advantage behind consecutive runs of 3-0 and 4-0. The Braves recorded a few late kills, but Kaylee Parker sparked a set-ending 6-0 run to give Memphis a 25-6 victory.

The Tigers started the second set similarly to the first, building an early 10-4 lead before Alcorn State answered with kills from Cristin Webb and Jones. Dawn Moore and Little sparked 3-0 and 4-0 runs to extend the Memphis lead to 19-9. The Braves responded with back-to-back 3-0 runs, but Memphis closed out the 25-17 set win.

In the final set, Memphis staged multiple runs to take a 14-4 lead before Alcorn State mounted a 6-0 run to pull within four. Courtney Carter and Jones kept the Braves within striking distance, but back-to-back 3-0 runs secured the 25-17 match-clinching
set victory for the Tigers.

NOTABLES

Memphis posted a season-high 13 service aces.
- The Tigers have recorded 10-plus aces in back-to-back matches.
Caitlyn Little led the Tigers offensively with 10 kills and 14.5 points.
Arianna Mongare tied her season high with seven kills while hitting .600.
- The graduate student is the first Tiger to hit .600 hitting percentage or higher in a single match since Janyah Henderson against Texas Southern on Sept. 6, 2025.
Sydney Marshall dished out 22 assists and tied her season high with three aces.
- The junior has recorded at least 20 assists in all six matches this season.
Abigail Schlueter recorded 10 digs.
Little and Kaylee Parker each tallied three blocks.
