Tigers Fall 4-2 to No. 57 Rice on the Road

HOUSTON, Texas. – The University of Memphis men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 57 Rice Saturday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
Memphis battled throughout the match, but Rice claimed the doubles point and secured three singles victories to clinch the match.
The Tigers earned a win on court two in doubles, as Sam Reeve/Lasse Rensing picked up a 6-3 victory. However, Rice took courts one and three to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Memphis responded with strong performances on courts two and four. Maxime Dubouch rallied for a three-set victory on court two, defeating Santiago Navarro 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. Leandro Zgraggen added another point for the Tigers with a commanding 6-4, 6-3 win on court four.
Rice secured the match with wins on courts one, five and six. Moritz Kudernatsch fell on court one, while Marko Milosavljevic dropped a three-set battle on court five. Keoni Puig McCallan was defeated in straight sets on court six to seal the match for the Owls.
Memphis falls to 11-11 overall and will face Middle Tennessee on Friday, April 10 for its final regular season match. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
