MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis men's basketball head coach Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway has announced Tuesday the addition of guard Luke Almodovar to the Tigers' 2026–27 roster.
Almodovar, a 6-foot-3 guard from Noblesville, Indiana, joins Memphis following a standout 2025-26 season at Southeast Missouri State. In his lone campaign with the Redhawks, he averaged 14.1 points per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the field, emerging as one of the Ohio Valley Conference's top scoring guards.
A versatile offensive threat, Almodovar made 23 starts for a SEMO squad that advanced to the semifinals of the OVC Tournament. His consistent production throughout the season earned him First Team All-OVC honors, along with a selection to the OVC All-Newcomer Team.
Prior to his time in Cape Girardeau, Almodovar spent two seasons at Saint Francis (Ind.), where he established himself as one of the NAIA's premier scorers. He averaged 19.1 points per game across his career, shooting an efficient 51.6 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three-point range.
A proven perimeter shooter, Almodovar led Saint Francis in scoring in both seasons in Fort Wayne. As a sophomore, he earned First Team All-Crossroads League honors after averaging 20.0 points per game and knocking down 67 three-pointers. He also garnered Crossroads League All-Freshman Team recognition after averaging 18.9 points per game in conference play during his freshman season.
A product of Noblesville High School, Almodovar was an Indiana All-Star and a two-time All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference selection. He finished his prep career with 936 points and 137 three-pointers, including a senior season in which he averaged 17.5 points per game and made 65 shots from beyond the arc.
Almodovar joins a 2026 transfer class that includes guard Brandin Cummings and forward Rihards Vavers.
