SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Memphis men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 16 San Diego on Tuesday afternoon at Hogan Tennis Center.

San Diego claimed the early advantage by securing the doubles point. The Tigers picked up a win on court three as Obrad Markovski/Marko Milosavljevic defeated Stian Klaassen/Manvydas Balciunas 6-4, but the Toreros responded with victories on courts one and two to clinch the doubles point.

Memphis found its lone point of the match in singles play when Maxime Dubouch earned a straight-set victory on court two, defeating Vincent Marysko 6-4, 6-3.

San Diego secured the match with wins on the remaining courts. Oliver Tarvet earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Moritz Kudernatsch on court one, while Neo Niedner defeated Luis Carvalho 6-2, 6-2 on court six. Lambert Ruland claimed a 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) win over Leandro Zgraggen at line five to extend the Toreros' lead.

The final two matches both went to three sets. Manvydas Balciunas defeated Marcos Castro Fabra 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on court three, and No. 105 Stian Klaassen rallied past Obrad Markovski 0-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 on court four to complete the 6-1 result.

Memphis falls to 7-6 and will stay in San Diego for a neutral match with No. 29 Princeton on Thursday, March 12. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
