Feb 13, 2026 | Women's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's basketball returns home to take on Charlotte on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Proceeds for tickets will go to the Play4Kay foundation and can be purchased HERE.
The first of four games in eight days for the Tigers, it is a rematch of the opening conference game of the season which the 49ers won, 62-49. Memphis fell at UAB on Tuesday, 58-56, despite a career-high six steals from Cori Allen.
Charlotte (11-13, 5-6 American) will have a rest advantage after enjoying their bye week. They've won two in a row against Tulane and Wichita State and return home for a two-game homestand following their trip to the Bluff City.
Memphis led 23-22 at halftime on New Year's Eve in Charlotte, but the 49ers pulled away late to take the victory. Scoring just seven points in the final quarter, it is still the lowest scoring output of the Tigers' season. Princess Anderson had 28 points, and the 49ers had 20 offensive rebounds as a team. The 49ers have a four-game winning streak dating back to 2005, but Memphis owns the all-time advantage, 10-7.
Creating extra possessions on the glass is a staple of this 49er team, which ranks third in the nation with 17.7 offensive boards per game. Asianae Nicholson averages nearly five per night for a total average of 9.8, ranking third in the conference. Anderson is sixth in the conference with 14.3 points a night, and Tanajah Hayes adds 11.4 per game.
Tomekia Reed is in year two as head coach in Charlotte. Last season, they were the No. 12 seed in the conference tournament but won two games to reach the quarterfinals.
