No. 11 Memphis Short Against No. 6 Ole Miss in NCAA Qualifier

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 11 University of Memphis rifle team shot well at its NCAA Qualifier on Saturday at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range, totaling a 2334 in smallbore, 2375 in air rifle and an aggregate of 4709.

Junior Gabriela Zych led the Tigers on the day, shooting 586 in smallbore and 594 in air rifle for an 1180 aggregate.

"I'm very proud of the way the team shot their match today," head coach Morgan Phillips said. "This is the hardest match of the year in a lot of ways and they worked really hard despite how challenging it was.

"We know we still have some work to do going into our conference championship next week."

KEY MOMENTS

Zych finished as the top Tiger and fourth overall in the individual standings with her 1180 aggregate.
Katrina Demerle took sixth overall with an aggregate of 1179. Demerle posted the fifth-best smallbore total (586) and finished 10^th in air rifle (593).
Sophie Cruz was ninth in the individual standings (1174) and Kenlee Ewton finished 10^th (1173). Ewton shot the Tigers top air rifle score (595) to finish fourth.
