Wilson, Spetic Named American Players of the Week, Lewis Tabbed to Honorable Mention

IRVING, Texas – The University of Memphis football team had three players named to weekly awards with Kamari Wilson claiming Defensive Player of the Week, Gianni Spetic as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Brendon Lewis to Honorable Mention, the conference announced Monday.
Wilson, a defensive back out of Fort Pierce, Fla., helped the Tiger defense that held Tulsa to season lows of seven points and 246 yards with four forced turnovers in the team's 45-7 win. Wilson finished the game with a team-best eight tackles, including one tackle for loss, and had a 15-yard interception return in the victory.
Spetic, a 6-3 placekicker from Chardon, Ohio, went a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs and nailed a 50-yard field goal in route to Memphis' 10th consecutive win and clinching bowl eligibility for the 12th straight season. Spetic currently ranks second in the conference with an average of 8.5 points per game for kickers.
Lewis had another notable stat line in the team's 45-7 win over Tulsa this past weekend; the play-caller out of Dallas, Texas went 26-for-30 for 266 yards and three touchdowns while adding in a team-high 67 yards on the ground and a score of his own.
