Oct 23, 2025 | Women's Soccer
SAN ANTONIO – No. 4 Memphis women's soccer extended its winning streak to seven on Thursday evening, beating UTSA, 2-0.
The Tigers (14-0-2, 8-0-1 American) made it 28 consecutive conference matches without a loss, posting their 11th shutout of the season which ranks third most in the country. Elise Perron opened the scoring in the 25th minute and Evelyn Mackay put the game to bed with her first-ever goal in the 76th minute.
"Another good performance, the gameplan was to match their physicality while imposing our own style and I thought the girls executed it well," said head coach Brooks Monaghan. "It was a game with high emotions; the crowd was really into it and affected the game. We've been honest with the girls because I've seen teams clinch the regular season title and take their foot off the gas. Every game matters for your seeding in the NCAA Tournament, so really pleased with how we played tonight."
It was the seventh-highest recorded attendance ever at Park West Complex, as fans piled into see the highest-ranked team the Roadrunners (7-4-5, 3-2-3 American) have ever faced. Memphis, with the top seed in the conference tournament locked, absorbed the hosts' early punches, which were most threatening via set pieces.
Right after a long free-kick went out of play for a Memphis goal kick, the Tigers worked it to Perron who drove it nearly 30 yards and fired a low shot into the far left corner of the net, beating UTSA's all-time saves leader Jasmine Kessler for her fifth goal of the season. She is the fifth Tiger to reach five goals this season.
Memphis took firmer control of the game in the second half, earning nine corner kicks including six in a 12-minute span around the hour mark. It would be the seventh corner, 15 minutes later, that sealed the Tiger victory, as Mackay collected the clearance, blew by her defender and fired it through the legs of Kessler from the right wing.
The visitors outshot UTSA, 17 to four, including 10 on target. Abby Kudla made two saves in net, improving her save percentage to 81.2%.
The Tigers will conclude the regular season this Sunday, October 26, at home against Temple at 12:00 p.m. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
