Haggerty Grabs Fourth AAC Player of the Week Honor

IRVING, Texas – University of Memphis guard PJ Haggerty has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It's the fourth player of the week honor for Haggerty this season, and his seventh weekly award overall.
Haggerty led the No. 24 Tigers to two massive wins at home this week, defeating Wichita State (61-53) on Thursday and UAB (100-77) on Sunday.
The redshirt sophomore averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in 35.3 minutes per game. He shot 63.0 percent overall (17-27), hit 3-of-4 from long distance and 8-of-11 at the free throw line.
Haggerty recorded his 13th and 14th games of the year with 20-plus points.
Against the Shockers, he put up 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and four thefts while shooting 8-11 overall. On Sunday against UAB, he got 23 points, a career high-tying nine assists, six rebounds and three steals while going 9-16 overall from the floor.
With the victories, the Tigers climbed to No. 19 in the Associated Press poll and No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, both were announced Monday morning.

Memphis wraps up the first half of its conference season next week with a pair of road trips. The Tigers will first trek to the Big Easy to face Tulane on Thursday at 8 p.m., before heading to Houston for their first visit to Rice as AAC members on Sunday for a 2 p.m. tip.
