Tigers Open AAC Play Friday at Tulsa

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After having a week between matches, the Memphis men's soccer team will kick off American Athletic Conference play Friday night at Tulsa. The match will be at 7 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
The Tigers (2-4-1) played to a rain-soaked 1-1 draw the last time out with SIUE, despite controlling the possession and doubling the Panthers in shot attempts, 16-8.
Anthony DiFalco did record his first-career goal in the match with an equalizer in the 17th minute, earning a weekly AAC Honorable Mention nod for his effort.
Memphis is led offensively by Lleyton Imparato. The first-year Tiger enters league play tied for the conference lead in goals scored (3), while ranking second in total points (8), points per game (1.33) and shots (14). He is also tied for fourth with two assists.
As a unit, head coach Richard Mulrooney's squad paces the AAC in shot attempts (109) and shots per game (15.57), and ranks second in points (30), points per game (4.29), goals (10) and goals per game (1.43). The team's 10 assists are fourth-most.
Memphis is the only team in the league with three players - Imparato, Logan Longo, Luciano Galizzi - who have scored at least two goals, and two players – Imparato and Longo - who rank top five in total points.
Tulsa (1-4-1) is coming off a 3-0 loss at Creighton last weekend and is winless in its last three outings. The only victory this season came on Sept. 1 in a 3-2 win versus Cal Poly.
All six goals for the Golden Hurricane this season have been scored by a different player.
Tulsa leads the all-time series with Memphis, 13-8-3, but the Tigers have gotten the victory in each of the last two meetings, including a 2-1 overtime win in Tulsa in 2022.
Memphis will be back at home next Saturday (Sept. 28) with a 7 p.m. match against UAB on ESPN+.
