Aug 22, 2024 | Football, General
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – As Tiger Nation prepares to return to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium for the highly-anticipated 2024 football season, fans will see a number of different elements around the venue with phase two construction currently underway.
The University of Memphis athletics department outlined below important gameday information and fan experience enhancements for the upcoming season on Thursday.
STADIUM CONSTRUCTION & SAFETY
All demolition at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium has been completed for phase two from the top of the structure to the ground level. There is no present danger of falling objects.
The ADA platforms and lower bowl chairback seats remain untouched and have been separated from the construction area with a 20-foot-wide walkway and 8-foot tall gameday barricades to ensure fan safety during games.
Directional movement inside SBLS will be smooth and functional for fans with signage to assist throughout the impacted areas of the stadium.
To help navigational safety, the bowl will be illuminated by custom engineered temporary lighting.
DIGITAL TICKETING
Tickets and parking passes to Tigers games are fully digital to allow ease and convenience in accessing tickets, entering venues and transferring tickets to family and friends. For information on digital ticketing, CLICK HERE.
Make sure you add your ticket(s) and parking pass(es) to your digital wallet before gameday to avoid any delays entering the stadium.
STADIUM ENTRY & GATE ACCESS
All gates at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium are scheduled to open 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
Magnetometers will now be located at every gate entry to walk through for security before scanning your ticket. Fans will no longer be wanded by security.
While renovations are ongoing at SBLS, Gates 4 & 5 will be unavailable to access for entry into the stadium. The other four gates will remain fully functional, including Gate 3 (located between the towers off Tiger Lane). All other Gates (1, 2, 6) are also fully available to enter the stadium.
The UofM student gate will now be located at Gate 6 (previously Gate 4).
PARKING & SHUTTLES
Parking will not be affected this season and shuttle service will remain the same as in the past.
Season parking passes are digital. A visual check of your parking pass will be made at the access points to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium grounds, and your parking pass will be scanned at the entrance to your parking lot.
The City will be operating gameday parking options at the Liberty Park Mixed Use Development ($30 gameday; Access Point 6 at SBLS) and at Tobey Park ($20 gameday; 2599 Avery). Gameday parking lots are card only.
Park and Ride Shuttle Service from the University of Memphis campus to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will continue to be available. The service includes parking and round-trip shuttle service to and from the stadium for $10 per person, card only. Fans interested in the shuttle service can access the shuttles from the Central Avenue Parking Lot entrance at Zach Curlin Street (3854 Central Avenue). Service to the stadium begins four hours prior to kickoff through 30 minutes after kickoff. Return trips are available at halftime, at the end of the third quarter and then continuously after the game concludes for one hour following the final whistle.
Fans parking in the Tan/Silver/Pink lots will need to access through the towers at Tiger Lane.
For weekend games, parking lot opening times vary based on the game's kickoff time. Weekday games will be communicated separately:
TIGER LANE & TAILGATE
The new Tiger Tailgate area is back! A meeting point for all fans to enjoy the pregame festivities on Tiger Lane, it will continue to feature a large-screen TV for fans to watch game(s), along with food trucks, beer sales, seating and tables.
Kid Zone will continue to stay in a larger area to accommodate more inflatables for children as well as a football field for kids to play on.
Tiger Walk will continue to take place in its same location, 2.5 hours prior to kickoff on Tiger Lane.
The MAF Hospitality Tent will remain on the 2nd quadrant of Tiger Lane.
The "Fast Pass" will be available at the MAF Hospitality Tent for season ticket members who wish to pre-scan their game tickets and receive a wristband to utilize the "Fast Pass" entry located at Gate 3.
IN-GAME FEATURES AND UPDATES
This season will continue to feature enhanced fireworks and cryo for the new Tiger team runout and Memphis touchdowns (we expect a lot of fireworks).
"Release the Tigers" presented by Dillard Door & Entrance Control, is back and will utilize the locker room garage door with the Tiger head inflatable located on Tiger Lane for photo opportunities. Be sure and stop by before entering the stadium.
The Mighty Sound of the South, University of Memphis Marching Band will now be located in Section 129.
The Memphis football team will continue to operate from the west sideline, however, all on-field performances and recognitions will now face the east sideline. This includes the flipping of the leaping Tiger logo and midfield and all other sponsorship logos on the turf.
CONCOURSE ENHANCEMENTS
To enhance fan circulation on the west side of the stadium, a 20-foot walkway has been created behind the west side chairbacks to provide fans easier access to and from their seats during renovations. This walkway will provide ample space for fans to access the west side chairback seating and navigate the concourse freely.
To help escape the Tennessee heat, cool down misting fans will be available on the concourse at Sections 115 & 128.
For fan safety along the west side of the stadium, barricades and fencing will provide a buffer blocking off the construction zone. An 8-foot high wall will be constructed behind the west concourse and it will showcase signage and branding from the UofM and its partners.
CONCESSIONS
Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will continue to offer a variety of concessions stand options, with some new additions. Fans will still be able to enjoy their favorite foods from Pronto Pups, Coletta's, Corky's BBQ and Tiger Tacos, while offerings will remain available on both the northwest and southwest concourses. All concessions will remain CASHLESS.
"Happy Hour" will continue for the first hour of gates being opened (90 minutes prior to kickoff until 30 minutes prior) and will include 16 oz. canned beers for $6 at all grab-and-gos, bars, and portable locations.
There will be an increase of draft beer and cocktail stands throughout the concourse to replace the lost concessions on the west sideline due to renovations.
