MEMPHIS, Tenn. --Â The University of Memphis Athletics Department, in collaboration with Altius Sports Partners (ASP), announced today the appointment of Mark C. Greer Jr. as the school's in-house ASP NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) General Manager and Camie Cole as ASP Athlete Marketing Manager. Initiated in September 2023, Memphis' collaboration with ASP enhances its NIL operations, providing centralized points of contact for unparalleled support to all Memphis stakeholders in navigating and maximizing NIL opportunities.
"Mark's and Camie's additions stand as a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting student-athletes," stated Laird Veatch, University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "With Mark's extensive experience, right here in Memphis, we're confident he will enhance our NIL program. We're also thrilled to welcome Camie, reinforcing our dedication to elevating the student-athlete experience. This collaboration with Altius Sports Partners is proving beneficial, as these additions highlight our commitment to excellence and innovation in student-athlete support."
Under the training and supervision of ASP, Greer will oversee all aspects of the school's NIL program – MaximUM. This includes providing education for internal and external stakeholders, offering strategic guidance, and implementing initiatives to expand NIL opportunities for Memphis student-athletes. Greer's background, highlighted by his recent role as Sales Director for the Memphis-based FedEx St. Jude Championship on the PGA Tour, positions him to elevate NIL awareness within the Memphis community through his collaborative work with the athletics department's chief revenue officer, Brad Loos.
With deep roots in Memphis, Greer held leadership roles at DraftKings as the Tennessee Lead VIP Player Development Executive, driving key sales metrics and implementing strategies for improved operational efficiency. Additionally, he served as the Business Development Head for OYO USA, oversaw marketing partnerships and services for the Memphis Express football team, and played a crucial role for Learfield IMG College Ticket Solutions at the University of Memphis. Greer's professional career began with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he led new business development and spearheaded projects generating more than $2.5 million in revenue.
"As a proud Memphian, I'm thrilled to utilize my expertise at Memphis and support this community where I've grown up, been a student, and a leading business professional," said Greer. "I can't wait to hit the ground running, collaborating with the school and our incredibly diverse community to not just maximize but revolutionize student-athlete NIL opportunities."
Cole, appointed as Athlete Marketing Manager, brings valuable expertise in athlete and coach relations, having most recently served as the Director of Recruiting Operations for Virginia Tech Football. She will be responsible for education, advocacy, and fostering connections between student-athletes and brands alongside Associate Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing Michael Schroeder and Memphis' external relations team.
"What a great time to be a part of the change happening in college athletics and to help connect student-athletes and brands for incredible opportunities," expressed Cole. "I couldn't be more excited, and I can't wait to support the entire team at Memphis."
The University of Memphis has been a pioneer in NIL innovation, among the first 10 schools in the nation to invest in a dedicated Director of NIL position before enlisting ASP's services to launch and lead its Athlete Services Department. Memphis continues to provide top-of-the-line resources to its student-athletes through on-campus partnerships, including the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship.
"We are thrilled to contribute to the supercharging of Memphis' already strong NIL infrastructure," said Andrew Donovan, President for ASP College. "Mark and Camie bring a wealth of expertise and passion to the Bluff City. They are driven to make an impact, and we are confident in their ability to effectively connect all stakeholders in furthering opportunities for Memphis student-athletes."
Launched in July 2022, the ASP NIL GM Program offers centralized NIL support services for 18 schools, providing customized education to navigate the changing NIL landscape. With trained ASP personnel stationed on campus, the program ensures student-athletes have the tools and resources to make informed decisions about their NIL opportunities, covering national issues such as licensing, sponsorship, agents, employment, labor, collective bargaining, Title IX, and other impending concerns.
