No. 12 Memphis Places Fourth at GARC Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 12-ranked University of Memphis rifle team placed fourth at the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships on Sunday in West Point, N.Y. The team matched the program record in smallbore on Saturday with a 2341 before posting a 2373 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 4714.
No. 1 West Virginia won the conference title with an aggregate of 4759, while No. 4 Kentucky took second with a score of 4737. No. 6 Ole Miss just edged the Tigers for third place with a total of 4717.
"This was a really great weekend for our team and I'm happy to be finishing out with a season high," head coach Morgan Phillips said. "The biggest highlight this weekend was our third place finish in smallbore. This was the first time in a while we've placed as a team at conference championships and I'm really happy we accomplished this among some of the best teams in the nation. We also tied our program record in smallbore, so that was great to see as well."

• Memphis' fourth-place finish is the best under Phillips. The team placed seventh in 2021-22 in her first season and sixth in 2022-23.
