MEMPHIS, Tenn.Ā - The University of Memphis men's basketball team took care of business against American Athletic Conference opponent Tulane Sunday afternoon, defeating the Green Wave, 90-78, inside FedExForum.Ā Ā

The Tigers improved to 18-6 overall and 7-4 in AAC play while extending their win streak to three games.

Memphis led by as many as 25 points and avenged a two-point loss to the Green Wave (13-10, 4-7 AAC) earlier this season.

David Jones was one of three Tiger starters in double digits on the day, pouring in 23 points to go with 10 rebounds for another double-double. Jahvon QuinerlyĀ (18) and Nae'Qwan Tomlin (16) helped the Tigers to 46.8-percent shooting on the day and 37.5-percent shooting from deep in the win.

Tulane had been a thorn in Memphis' side the last three seasons in the regular season, but on Sunday, the Tigers had their way. The Green Wave's only lead was by one point on two occasions in the first three minutes. From that point on, it was all Memphis.

A 16-0 run midway through the first half helped give the Tigers a 46-29 lead at the break. Six quick points from Tomlin and a pair of three-pointers from Jones ballooned the Memphis advantage to 25 at 59-34.

The lead hovered around 20 for the majority of the final 20 minutes until late in the half when the Green Wave hit three shots from long distance to pull within 10, but an alley-oop to Jonathan Pierre in the final minute put an exclamation point on the game for the Tigers. Ā

The Tigers shot 46.8 percent from the floor (29-of-62) and connected on nine of its 24 3-point tries (.375). Memphis limited the Green Wave to their third-lowest field goal percentage of the season at 38.1 percent (24-of-63).

Tulane forwardĀ Collin HollowayĀ led the Green Wave offensively with 16 points in the loss and was one of six Green Wave players to score in double digits.

Memphis had 21 assists on 29 field goals and knocked down 23-of-33 at the free throw line (.697). The Tigers recorded 11 steals and five blocks.

Memphis hits the road for a Texas two-step next week with trips to North Texas (Feb. 15) and SMU (Feb. 18). The Tigers will stay in the Lonestar State for four nights, their longest trip of the season.
